An unidentified individual has ignited a fire at a mosque in Laraba Abasawa, situated in the Gezawa Local Government Area of Kano State, during the morning prayer session. The distressing incident, which transpired on Wednesday morning, resulted in injuries to worshippers who were present at the time.
Witnesses indicated that the attacker employed petrol to set the mosque ablaze while approximately 40 individuals were engaged in the ‘Subh’ prayer. Subsequently, the perpetrator locked the mosque after starting the fire, confining the congregants inside.
It took some time for those outside to become aware of the situation and come to the aid of those trapped inside the burning building. Reportedly, around 20 worshippers who sustained severe injuries have been promptly taken to the Murtala Muhammad Specialist Hospital in Kano for medical attention.
