A 63-year-old man named Lukman Odejoju has been arrested for allegedly killing his mother, Aminat Odejoju, over a disagreement about the proceeds from their palm oil farm.
The incident occurred at Kajola village, Apomu, in Isokan local government area of Osun State.
According to sources in the community, the mother and son had a disagreement over who should collect the proceeds from their palm oil farm. The mother insisted that she had the right to collect the proceeds, but her son disagreed.
In a fit of rage, Lukman allegedly pushed his mother, causing her to fall and hit her head. She died from her injuries.
Lukman was arrested and taken to the police station in Apomu. He reportedly confessed to pushing his mother, but claimed that he did not intend to kill her. He said that he was possessed by a spirit when he pushed her.
The Osun Police Command’s spokesperson, SP Yemisi Opalola, confirmed the incident. She said that the suspect is currently in police custody and will be charged with murder.
