The Ekiti State Police Command recently apprehended Kunle Ogunnusi, a resident of Oke-Ila, Ado-Ekiti, for allegedly causing harm to his 4-year-old son during what he claimed was a disciplinary act.
The arrest was made based on information provided by concerned residents in the community.
According to the police spokesman in Ekiti State, Mr. Sunday Abutu, the suspect admitted to the offense during questioning, stating that he was provoked by his son.
However, further investigation revealed that this was not an isolated incident but rather part of a pattern of abuse towards the child. It was disclosed that Kunle Ogunnusi frequently subjected his son to physical violence using dangerous objects, resulting in injuries even for minor reasons.
The Commissioner of Police, Mr. Akinwale Adeniran, emphasized that the suspect’s actions were unacceptable and that appropriate legal action would be taken against him. It is crucial to address cases of child abuse promptly and ensure that those responsible are held accountable for their actions.
The well-being and safety of children must always be a top priority, and any form of abuse or violence towards them should not be tolerated in any society.
