Lionel Messi Stucked at China airport for journeying with wrong passport

Lionel Messi was held by border control at the Beijing Airport while trying to use his Spanish passport other than his Argentine one

The 35-year-old football athlete arrived in China in a private jet last weekend, where he was joined by Argentina star Angel di Maria and his groups and his other group of friends.

He was travelling to join his Argentina teammates ahead of a friendly against Australia on Thursday.

According to a Video making rounds on social media revealed that the seven-time Ballon d’Or winner surrounded by several police officers. Messi was seen to hold onto his passport while talking to them about the issue.

The News was reported by a local press in China saying Messi had the delay due to the wrong password he used

It is said that Messi believed he could travel to Taiwan on his Spanish passport, meaning that it was also valid for China.

Messi was said have saidquoted, “Is Taiwan not China?”

He was delayed and thoroughly checked for two more hours before he was finally granted a visa and let through.
