Lagos, Nigeria — Nigerian rapper Keshinro Ololade, popularly called Lil Kesh, has made his first public statement since a brutal stabbing attack in Lagos that left him seriously injured.
The “Shoki” artist reportedly suffered a neck stab wound and partial ear amputation, which was later successfully reattached. His jewelry was also stolen during the robbery, sparking concern and prayers from fans and fellow entertainers.
Posting on X (formerly Twitter), Lil Kesh reassured supporters that he is recovering well. He wrote, “Life threw me a curveball, but I’m safe, healing, and grateful to be alive. Thank you for the love, support, and prayers.”
His message quickly spread, with many fans expressing relief and sending wishes for his swift recovery.
Lil Kesh, who rose to prominence via Olamide’s YBNL Nation, remains a leading voice in street-hop and Afrobeats, despite recent struggles.
This attack reflects a broader pattern, with other artists targeted recently. Earlier in the year, Nigerian rapper Yung6ix survived a violent shooting during a robbery in Los Angeles. Similarly, DJ Big N escaped death after being shot in a robbery in Johannesburg, losing valuables worth $114,000.
