In a tragic discovery, the lifeless body of a male individual was found under the Okefia Bridge in Osogbo, Osun State on Friday.
Details surrounding the presence of the body at that location remain unclear, but eyewitnesses noted that the man was partially undressed. According to a trader named Chibuzor in the area, the body was first spotted around midday, prompting concerned individuals to alert security personnel for further investigation.
In response to the call, personnel from the Osun State Command of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) quickly arrived at the scene. They were later joined by officials from the Osogbo West local government, who worked together to remove the body. A bag containing some clothing was found near the deceased individual.
Authorities inspected the area and gathered possible evidence to determine the circumstances leading to the man’s demise. The NSCDC spokesperson for Osun Command, Adeleke Kehinde, confirmed that the case was being thoroughly investigated. She mentioned that the local government officials were promptly informed about the discovery to facilitate the removal of the body to prevent further decay.
Meanwhile, concerns have been raised regarding the security of flyovers across the state, with a call for heightened security measures in those areas. Lamina Kamiludeen Omotoyosi, the Executive Director of the World Institute of Peace (WIP), emphasized the need for securing the flyovers to deter criminal activities. He urged the Osun State Police Command and the government to prioritize the safety of these locations to ensure the public’s well-being.
