LASUTH rejects responsibility for organ removal

By Damilola Adeleke

The Lagos State University Teaching Hospital (LASUTH) has denied responsibility for the alleged disappearance of a patient’s intestines. The mother of the patient had claimed that her son’s intestines went missing after corrective surgery at LASUTH. However, LASUTH’s management stated that while corrective surgery was indeed performed, they did not willfully remove any organ or structure from the patient. The hospital explained that the patient had previously undergone two surgeries in a private hospital before being referred to LASUTH. LASUTH set up a panel to investigate the case and stated that they are cooperating with relevant authorities to resolve the matter.
