Lagos Government redirects traffic for the demolition of a pedestrian bridge.

The Lagos State Government has announced plans to divert traffic at Ikeja Along bus stop, specifically between Ile Zik and Conoil Petrol Station on the Oshodi bound lane, from Saturday to Sunday.

The Commissioner for Transportation, Mr. Oluwaseun Osiyemi, explained that the diversion would take place between the hours of 12 midnight and 4.00 a.m. daily to facilitate the demolition of the old pedestrian bridge by the Lagos Metropolitan Area Transport Authority (LAMATA).

During the demolition process, only one lane will be available to motorists from Ile Zik bus stop up to Conoil Petrol filling station on the Oshodi bound side of the road to ensure the safety of all road users.

Osiyemi assured that traffic diversion would not impact motorists traveling on the Dopemu/Abule Egba bound side of the road.

To manage vehicular movement and minimize inconveniences, the Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA) will be present to oversee traffic flow during the demolition exercise. Osiyemi urged the motoring public to cooperate and adhere to the traffic diversions put in place during this period.

Additionally, the lanes affected by the demolition will be cordoned off with jersey barriers and protective nets to enhance safety for motorists and commuters.

These safety measures are part of the government’s efforts to ensure the smooth execution of the pedestrian bridge demolition project without compromising the well-being of the public.
