Lagos Court Sets March 7 Hearing for Obasa’s Speakership Suit

Nigeria:  Justice Yetunde Pinheiro of the Lagos State High Court, Ikeja, has scheduled March 7 for the hearing of all pending applications in the lawsuit filed by former Speaker of the State Assembly, Mudashiru Obasa

Obasa is challenging his removal as Speaker, which he claims was unlawful, and has named the state government, the Assembly, current Speaker Mojisola Meranda, and the House of Assembly as defendants. During the latest proceeding, lawmakers loyal to Speaker Meranda filed an application to join the suit as defendants, with a team of senior lawyers, including Professor Tayo Oyetibo (SAN), representing their interests.
