The Minister of State for Labour and Employment, Nkeiruka Onyejeocha, has emphasized the importance of dialogue and skill development in fostering industrial harmony and promoting national progress.
Speaking at the 10th National Labour Summit and Award Ceremony hosted by the Michael Imoudu National Institute for Labour Studies (MINILS) in Ilorin, Kwara State, Onyejeocha commended the institute for its dedication to advancing dialogue and industrial peace. She described MINILS as instrumental in realizing the government’s Renewed Hope Agenda, aligning with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s vision of empowering citizens and boosting the economy.
The Director-General of MINILS, Comrade Issa Aremu, highlighted the summit as a critical forum for assessing the impact of President Tinubu’s reform agenda on job creation, wage enhancement, and industrial harmony.
“Our focus is to align labour education with the Renewed Hope reforms by addressing labour market challenges, promoting social justice, and enhancing industrial productivity to ensure sustainable national development,” Aremu stated.
Aremu further disclosed that MINILS had exceeded its 2024 ministerial targets by training over 3,500 workers from both formal and informal sectors across Nigeria’s six geopolitical zones.
The summit, which drew participants from various sectors, reinforced its significance as a platform for advancing labour education and strengthening industrial relations for national growth.
