The Pro-Chancellor and Chairman of the Council of Kwara State University, Malete (KWASU), Prof. AbdulGaniyu Ambali, has called on the people of Ilesha-Baruba and Osi to prepare for the arrival of university staff and students as academic activities are set to begin in their communities soon.
Prof. Ambali made this statement during a visit to the palaces of the Emir of Ilesha-Baruba, Professor Halidu Abubakar, and the Olosi of Osi, Oba Salihu Arowobeku I, where he led the university’s Governing Council to inspect the progress of ongoing construction at the new campuses.
He revealed that over 1,200 students from the Faculty of Agriculture and 180 students from the Faculty of Environmental Sciences will resume academic activities at the satellite campuses for the 2024-2025 academic year. Ambali expressed satisfaction with the significant progress made in the construction works.
He reaffirmed the commitment of the state government and KWASU management to ensure the timely commencement of academic operations, stating that the campuses will fulfill the aspirations of the host communities and bring substantial development to the regions.
In their responses, both the Emir of Ilesha-Baruba and the Olosi of Osi expressed their excitement at welcoming the students and assured that their communities would extend warm hospitality. They commended Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq for making the long-awaited establishment of the campuses a reality, pledging their support in helping to integrate the incoming staff and students.
KWASU was originally conceived as a multi-campus university, with branches in Malete, Ilesha-Baruba, and Osi. This vision, which has been in the works for fifteen years, is now coming to fruition thanks to the efforts of Governor AbdulRazaq.
