In a tragic turn of events, Ayuba Abdullahi, the deputy bursar of Kwara State University, Malete, met his demise on Wednesday night while fervently watching the AFCON semi-finals showdown between Nigeria and South Africa.

Sources, preferring anonymity, disclosed to The PUNCH that Abdullahi, engrossed in the match at a Sango sports center, suddenly began feeling unwell.

Witnesses revealed, “The Deputy Bursar followed every moment of the Nigeria/South Africa match, enduring till the conclusion of extra time and the onset of a crucial penalty kick. He expressed dizziness, deciding to head home, unaware that his blood pressure had soared.”

Upon reaching home, Abdullahi collapsed, prompting a swift rush to a private hospital in Sango. However, the severity of the situation necessitated a referral to the University of Ilorin Teaching Hospital, where, unfortunately, he succumbed before receiving medical attention.
