Kwara forms palliative distribution committee

Kwara State Kwara State Governor, AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq has inaugurated a 12-member Committee on distribution of the N5 billion federal government palliatives.with the charge to ensure transparency and even distribution across the state.

The palliative is one of the steps the government is taking to relieve people of the difficulties arising from the fuel subsidy removal and to strengthen the economy.

Governor AbdulRazaq said the committee would ensure the process of distributing the palliative was nonpartisan and credible one.

Terms of reference
The terms of reference for the committee include:

To reach out to different stakeholders and communities, including labour union, trade unions, and marketers
To generate a list of beneficiaries
Coordinate and distribute the palliative rice in 10kg bags
Advise the government on the best way to handle the maize component of the palliative.
The Governor also said the receipt of the balance of N2 billion from the federal government for purchase of new consignments of food items would determine the timeframe for the assignment.

Members of the Commitee
On behalf of the Committee, the Kwara State Commissioner of Police, Ebunoluwa Rotimi Adelesi thanked the Governor for finding them worthy to serve.

Other members are Emir of Tsonga, Dr Haliru Yahaya, Abdulrasheed Shafi (DSS); Prof Hamzah Abdulraheem (Secretary General of JNI, Kwara State), Bishop Sunday Timothy Adewole (CAN), Dr Lawal Olohungbebe (CSO), Mrs Grace Funke Bolaji (CSO), Dr Saudat AbdulBaqi, Stephen Owoyale, Comrade Yusuf Bashir (Persons with Disability); Binta Abubakar Mora (NUJ).

Abdulrahman Babatunde Ameen will serve as the Secretary of the committee.
