Lokoja, Nigeria — Kogi State Governor Alhaji Usman Ododo has instructed commissioners and political appointees to immediately return to their constituencies to lead grassroots mobilization for the ongoing Continuous Voter Registration (CVR) exercise.
The directive, effective Monday, September 1, 2025, was communicated through a circular from the Office of the Secretary to the State Government, Dr. Folashade Ayoade, according to Information Commissioner Kingsley Femi Fanwo.
The circular mandates all government appointees to coordinate voter registration efforts at the ward level and submit detailed reports on new registrants within their local government areas.
Governor Ododo emphasized that governance must move beyond the state capital to foster direct engagement with local communities, urging officials to remain accessible and responsive.
Appointees seeking to leave their LGAs during the exercise must obtain prior written approval from the Secretary to the State Government to avoid disciplinary action.
Fanwo reaffirmed the administration’s commitment to enhancing grassroots governance and maximizing voter participation in Kogi State’s electoral process.
