The abductors of Hajiya Hauwa’u Adamu, mother of popular Hausa musician Dauda Adamu, known as Rarara, have demanded a ransom of N900 million after holding her captive for six days.
A source close to the musician’s family revealed that the kidnappers initially demanded N1 billion but reduced the amount to N900 million after negotiations.
“They contacted the family using a phone they took from a woman during the abduction,” the source said. “They initially demanded N1 billion but lowered it to N900 million after brief discussions with a family member. They wanted to negotiate with Rarara directly, but he was too ill to do so. They assured the family that Hajiya is in good condition and would be released once the ransom is paid.”
The source noted that the kidnappers have not contacted the family again since the initial discussion but believes negotiations are still ongoing.
Describing the abduction, the source said the operation was meticulously planned. The kidnappers brought a photograph of Hajiya Adamu to ensure they had the right person.
“They entered her bedroom, woke up all the women sleeping there, and compared their faces to the photograph. After identifying her, they asked for money, which she provided from her bedside drawer, but it wasn’t enough. They then told her she would have to come with them, and she complied without hesitation.”
The source added that the villagers of Kahutu are deeply saddened by the abduction of Hajiya Adamu, who was known for her generosity.
“Hajiya is like a mother to everyone in this village. She has funded the marriages of many underprivileged families and orphans in Kahutu and the surrounding areas. No one has left her without having their problems addressed. Her generosity has touched everyone in this village,” the source concluded.
