Terrorists believed to be kidnappers launched an attack on the El-Rufai Estate in Bwari Area Council of the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja.
The incident occurred in the early hours of Wednesday as the assailants entered the area and began shooting indiscriminately.
During the attack, a man named Nathaniel was shot by the gunmen who then exchanged gunfire with members of the FCT Police Command.
Josephine Adeh, the Police Public Relations Officer of the FCT command, confirmed the incident, affirming its authenticity.
The kidnappers attempted to abduct several residents before being thwarted by the police.
A 30-minute gun battle ensued between the law enforcement officers and the criminal elements.
