Keyamo orders relocation of foreign airlines to MMIA from October 1

Festus Keyamo, the Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development has ordered all foreign airlines to halt operation at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport (MMIA) as of October 1, 2023.

While speaking to newsmen during a tour at the airport, the Minister said to make room for MMIA terminal two to expand, both the Dominion and EAN hangers would have to be removed.

The Minister also ordered the suspension of airports’ concession, the new national carrier, Nigeria Air, along with other contracts in the sector

Keyamo gave airlines a three-month deadline to remove all of their unservicable aircraft from the airport in order to make room for expansion. He also said that the airlines had been informed to start moving their ticket sales offices to the new terminal immediately in order to prepare for the start of MMIA renovations.

The minster noted that the issues of flight delays will be looked into and enforce laws where necessary
