Kebbi Teachers to retire at 65

The Governor of Kebbi State, Dr Nasir Idris, has approved the domestication of the law upgrading the retirement age of teachers from 60 to 65 years of age

The Commissioner for Basic Education, Hajiya Halima Mohammed Bande, stated this at a news briefing after the Weekly State Executive Council Meeting

The Commissioner said, teachers who worked for 35 years in the teaching profession had the opportunity of reaching 40 years before retirement

She stated that, necessary paper work would be presented to the Ministry of Justice to prepare a Bill for onward submission to the State House of Assembly to enact a law.

The Commissioner said, once the bill becomes a law the Governor would assent to it in order to boost the morale of teachers across in the State.
