The Deputy Governor of Kebbi State, Umar Tafida, has refuted claims that villages in the state are under the control of bandits.
He dismissed such reports as mere imagination from news sources and stressed that the state government has bolstered security measures in communities to thwart any security threats.
Speaking to journalists in Birnin Kebbi, Tafida recounted an incident in Mera village, Augie Local Government Area, where bandits killed 17 youths who bravely confronted them.
Despite the tragic loss, Tafida highlighted that the defenders managed to inflict serious injuries on some of the attackers.
Tafida reassured the residents of Kebbi State about the government’s unwavering commitment to their safety. He urged citizens to work hand in hand with security forces to combat banditry and other criminal activities effectively.
The Deputy Governor emphasized that Governor Idris Nasir’s administration would continue to implement robust strategies to ensure the protection of all residents in the state.
