Katsina Institutions Begin 14-Day Strike Over salary

The Joint Consultative Forum (JCF) of Katsina State-owned tertiary institutions has commenced a 14-day warning strike, effective December 9, to demand the implementation of approved salary structures as stipulated by the National Salaries, Income, and Wages Commission.

JCF Chairman, Comrade Muhammad Gidado, announced the decision during a meeting at Hassan Usman Katsina Polytechnic. He highlighted dissatisfaction with discrepancies in the salary structure, particularly omissions and unfavorable adjustments in the Consolidated Polytechnics and Colleges of Education Academic Staff Salary Structure (CONTISS11).

The strike affects several institutions, including Umaru Musa Yar’adua University (UMYU), Hassan Usman Katsina Polytechnic (HUKP), Isah Kaita College of Education, Yusuf Bala Usman College of Education, Katsina State Institute of Technology and Management (KSITM), and the Colleges of Health Sciences and Nursing.

The JCF called on the Katsina State Government to address the issues promptly to restore industrial harmony and prevent disruptions to academic activities across the affected institutions.
