Senior security officials in Kano State, including the Police Commissioner, Director of State Services (DSS), Army Brigade Commander, and NSCDC Commander, have held a meeting with deposed Emir Aminu Ado Bayero at the mini palace in Nasarawa, Kano.
This meeting occurs amidst growing tension over the Kano Emirate’s leadership. Governor Abba Yusuf reinstated Emir Muhammadu Sanusi II, who entered the Kofar Kudu palace early Saturday morning. However, Bayero returned to the city and took up residence in the mini palace shortly thereafter.
Despite Governor Yusuf’s order for Bayero’s arrest, the police have chosen to comply with an interim court order against Sanusi’s reinstatement. Bayero appears to be receiving greater acknowledgment from the state’s higher authorities, as evidenced by the special meeting with top security chiefs. The purpose of the meeting remains undisclosed at the time of reporting.
