The Kano State government is working towards the creation of a special court for the speedy dispensation of justice on gender-based violence and child rights abuse in the state.
This was hinted at by the state Chief Justice, Dije Aboki, on Thursday, at the second quarter National Executive Council pre-convention meeting of the International Federation of Women Lawyers Nigeria, in Kano, Thursday.
The conference has its theme: “Ensuring access to justice for indigent women and children in Nigeria.”
Justice Aboki stressed that a special court was needed to address the emerging challenges of gender violence, rape and child abuse.
She reminded the FIDA that their efforts were required in the face of the challenges to give hope to the vulnerable ones.
