Kano, Nigeria— The Kano State Police Command has arrested a suspected serial motorcycle thief linked to at least 12 reported cases across the state.
The arrest followed a report lodged on August 11, 2025, by a resident of Dorawa Quarters, Kano, who alleged that an unknown man had posed as a buyer at his shop. While pretending to test a Lifan Hajoe model motorcycle, the suspect absconded with it.
In a statement issued by the Command’s spokesman, SP Abdullahi Kiyawa, operatives swiftly launched an intelligence-led operation, resulting in the arrest of 45-year-old Dahiru Jibrin of Hotoro Quarters, Kano. The stolen motorcycle was also recovered.
Upon interrogation, the suspect confessed to his involvement in multiple cases of motorcycle theft, with investigators linking him to at least 12 incidents across Kano.
The Commissioner of Police, CP Ibrahim Adamu Bakori, reaffirmed the Command’s commitment to safeguarding lives and property while urging residents to remain vigilant, especially when dealing with individuals requesting test rides.
He further appealed to victims of similar crimes to come forward and support ongoing investigations.
