The Kano State Pubic Complain and Anti-Corruption Agency has started investigation into missing government funds from the State’s Agricultural Supply Company (KASCO) amounting to the tune of over four billion naira.
The Chairman of the Commission, Muhyi Gado while leading an investigation tour to the warehouses were cars, heavy duty tractors and tractors alleged to have been bought by the siphoned funds were kept in Kumbotso local government area of the state.
He stated that the funds were mischievously transferred from Kano Agricultural Supply Company to an association registered with the corporate affairs commission named Association of compassionate friends.
“The Association was meant to promote and take care of the living standard of the children of the less privileged people in the society, but unfortunately it has been turned into a machine stealing public funds,” Gado said.
According to him, “eight suspects have been arrested.
Revealing credible information to the commission one of them said he was given certain amount to make false submission at KASCO but kept the money aside waiting for a moment like this and he has returned the money” Gado said.
He also said revealed that N15 million have so far been recovered and the anti- graft agency had succeeded in blocking about N80 million.
Gado added that the commission will file the case in the appropriate court and appealed to the public to cooperate with the commission in regard to recovery of government looted property.
