The Kano State Government has reiterated its dedication to promoting the welfare and inclusion of Persons with Disabilities (PWDs) in society. Commissioner for Information and Internal Affairs, Comrade Ibrahim Abdullahi Waiya, made this assurance during a meeting with the leadership of the Joint National Association of Persons with Disability. Waiya emphasized that disability should be viewed as a source of strength and inspiration, rather than a limitation, and praised the unique talents and resilience of PWDs.
Waiya assured the association that his ministry would ensure the inclusion of PWDs in all empowerment and government support programs, in collaboration with the Ministry of Women Affairs, Children, and the Disabled. He cited Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf’s compassionate leadership as a driving force behind the government’s commitment to supporting PWDs. The Chairman of the Joint National Association of Persons with Disability, Muhammad Musa Shaga, expressed optimism in the current administration’s commitment to advancing the rights and inclusion of PWDs, and called for the establishment of a dedicated state Commission for Persons with Disabilities.
