In an early Monday morning traffic accident, 25 individuals have died and 53 were injured in a crash involving a trailer at the Dangwaro Flyover on the Kano-Zaria Expressway in Kano State.
The incident involved 90 people who were traveling in the trailer along with animals, motorcycles, and bags of maize.
Last Friday, a similar tragedy occurred when a trailer lost control and hit worshippers who had just completed their Juma’at prayers at Imawa town in Kura Local Government Area, resulting in 14 deaths.
Abdullahi Labaran, spokesperson for the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), RS1.2, Kano State Sector Command, confirmed the Monday crash in a statement. He noted that 53 individuals sustained injuries and 12 were rescued unharmed.
The statement detailed, “At approximately 03:30 hours, a fatal accident involving a trailer (IVECO) with registration number KMC 311 ZB occurred at Dangwaro Flyover along Kano-Zaria Road. The crash resulted in 25 fatalities, 53 injured, and 12 unhurt.”
