Abuja, Nigeria — As part of this year’s Democracy Day observance, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu is scheduled to deliver a national address at 7:00 AM on Thursday, June 12, 2025, kicking off a series of key events commemorating the day.
In a statement issued on Wednesday by Abdulhakeem Adeoye, representing the Inter-Ministerial Committee on Democracy Day, it was confirmed that President Tinubu will also be in attendance at a joint session of the National Assembly by noon.
The statement further revealed that, in contrast to previous years, there will be no ceremonial parade marking the occasion.
Instead, a public lecture is slated for 4:00 PM at the State House Conference Centre in Abuja, focusing on the theme:
“Consolidating on the Gains of Nigeria’s Democracy: Necessity of Enduring Reforms.”
The June 12 celebration is expected to reflect on the progress of Nigeria’s democratic journey, highlight ongoing challenges, and reinforce the administration’s commitment to institutional reform and national unity.
