Olutimain Ilenre, a graduate of Ajayi Crowther University, has burnt his original certificates, including his NYSC certificate, Bachelor of Arts certificate, secondary school and JAMB certificates.
In a video posted on social media on Monday, the graduate of History and International Studies blamed his decision on unemployment, claiming that the country’s current circumstances have rendered his certificates useless.
“Getting a certificate in this country is a waste of time,” he complained.
Ilenre went on to say that the certifications are made useless even when traveling outside of the country.
He said he could not sleep well, thinking of “wasted 13 years” after graduation.
Ilenre urged parents to empower their children to learn handwork and trade.
He said: “I finished school in 2010 and did my NYSC in 2010/2011, till today, I have not been able to secure any job with my certificates.”
