JAMB to Release UTME Re-Sit Results for 379,000 Candidates Wednesday

Abuja, NigeriaThe Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has announced the release of results for 379,000 candidates who participated in the rescheduled Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME), slated for Wednesday, May 20.

This was made known by the Registrar of JAMB, Prof. Ishaq Oloyede, following the completion of the makeup exams conducted between Friday and Monday. The resit was prompted by widespread technical and human errors that marred the initial UTME.

Prof. Oloyede revealed that a total of 379,997 candidates were affected—206,610 from 65 centres in Lagos and 173,387 across 92 centres in the South-East region.

Acknowledging the system’s shortcomings, Prof. Oloyede took full responsibility for the mishap and, in a rare public moment, was visibly emotional while announcing corrective measures, including the rescheduled test.

Amid concerns about the credibility of the examination process, JAMB confirmed that over 1.5 million of the 1,955,069 initial candidates scored below 200 marks out of a possible 400.

JAMB’s Head of Public Affairs, Dr. Fabian Benjamin, affirmed that the results of the resit would be made available on Wednesday.

“The results of the candidates who took the rescheduled exam will be released on Wednesday,” Benjamin said.

The Board reiterated its commitment to transparency and excellence in Nigeria’s tertiary admission process.
