JAMB Releases Additional 36,540 UTME Results Amidst Integrity Concerns

The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has announced the release of an additional 36,540 results for the 2024 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME). These results were initially withheld for further investigation, raising the total released results to 1,879,437.

Addressing concerns about the integrity of the examination process, JAMB issued a statement reaffirming the security and authenticity of the released results. The Board refuted claims circulating on social media regarding a purported cyber security breach and the potential rescheduling of the examination. According to JAMB, a fabricated letter falsely attributed to the Board aimed to mislead candidates and compromise its operational integrity.

While withheld results undergo scrutiny for examination misconduct, JAMB emphasizes its commitment to thorough investigation, utilizing CCTV footage from accredited centers to determine candidates’ culpability. Upon conclusion of this process, the Board pledges to disclose its findings.

JAMB also cautions against misinformation, urging the public to rely solely on official communications from the Board. Responding to criticism from private institutions regarding low cut-off marks, JAMB clarifies that institutions themselves determine these minimum scores, subject to consensus at the annual Policy Meeting on Admissions. This meeting ensures the establishment of a standardized benchmark across all institutions, safeguarding the integrity of the admission process.
