Abuja, Nigeria — The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has expanded its ban on Law admissions by including Fountain University, Osogbo, in the list of barred institutions for the 2025/2026 academic session.
In a statement issued by the Board’s Public Communications Advisor, Fabian Benjamin, the decision was based on additional recommendations from the Council of Legal Education.
The statement emphasized that the restriction applies not only to Fountain University but also to eight other institutions previously sanctioned. These institutions, including the Nigerian Police Academy, Wudil, Kano State, are barred from admitting students for Law programmes for two academic sessions, covering 2025/2026 and 2026/2027.
The affected institutions are:
– Kwara State University, Malete, Ilorin, Kwara State
– Bingham University, Karu, Nasarawa State
– Redeemers University, Ede, Osun State
– Western Delta University, Oghara, Delta State
– Taraba State University, Jalingo, Taraba State
– Arthur Jarvis University, Akpabuyo, Cross River State
– Alex Ekwueme Federal University, Ndufu-Alike, Ebonyi State
– Nigerian Police Academy, Wudil, Kano State
With the addition of Fountain University, Osogbo, the number of affected institutions now stands at nine.
The Board reiterated its commitment to ensuring compliance with the recommendations of regulatory bodies to maintain quality standards in legal education across the country.
