Iwobi keen to play at another World Cup

Fulham midfielder, Alex Iwobi is keen to play at the World Cup again.

The 27-year-old made his first World Cup appearance in Russia 2018, where the Super Eagles bowed out in the group stage.

Iwobi and his teammates were denied a place in the 2022 World Cup finals by eternal rivals, Ghana.

The former Arsenal star has now reiterated his desire to play at the 2026 edition to be hosted by USA, Mexico and Canada.

“I would like to be there again, it’s not about me, everyone is ready to qualify and represent the nation,” Iwobi told the Super Eagles media.

“Everyone is in camp and we are ready, it’s a blessing that we have many players and we are ready to go”, he said.

The Super Eagles will open their 2026 World Cup qualifying campaign against the Likuena of Lesotho on Thursday.
