Iranian Consulate in Syria Leveled by Israeli Airstrike, Resulting in Death of IRGC Commander and Others

Reports from Reuters confirm that Israeli airstrikes have decimated an Iranian consulate situated in Damascus, Syria, claiming the lives of six individuals, among them a high-ranking officer of the Iranian Revolutionary Guards Corps (IRGC).

During the ongoing six-month conflict in Gaza, Israel has consistently targeted Iranian installations, as highlighted in coverage by DAILY POST.

According to a source within Lebanese security speaking to Reuters, among the casualties is Mohammad Reza Zahedi, identified as a prominent figure within the IRGC.

Acknowledging the loss, Iranian state television has confirmed the deaths of several diplomats from Iran.

Discrepancies arise in casualty figures, with Iran’s Tasnim news agency reporting five fatalities, while Syria’s SANA state news agency mentions an unspecified number of casualties.

Maintaining its customary silence, Israel has refrained from offering any comments regarding the incident.

In adherence to protocol, an Israeli military spokesperson stated, “We do not comment on reports from foreign media outlets.”

Heightened airstrikes by Israeli forces in Syria, targeting both Lebanon’s Hezbollah militia, backed by Iran, and the IRGC, have surged following an offensive by Hamas, a Palestinian faction with Iranian support, initiated on October 7.
