Iran’s President Masoud Pezeshkian emphasized on Wednesday that Iran is “not seeking war” with Israel but warned of a stronger response if Israel retaliates to its missile attack.
Speaking at a joint press conference in Doha with Qatar’s Emir, Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani, Pezeshkian said, “If Israel reacts, we will respond even more forcefully. The Islamic Republic is committed to this.”
His comments followed Iran’s launch of approximately 200 missiles, including hypersonic ones, towards Israel, sending civilians into shelters. Israeli forces intercepted most missiles, but a school was damaged, and two people were lightly injured by shrapnel.
Pezeshkian accused Israel of destabilizing the region, stating, “The Zionist regime aims to spread crisis and insecurity.” He urged the U.S. and European nations to pressure Israel into halting violence.
Sheikh Tamim also condemned Israeli attacks on Hezbollah and Gaza, warning that Israel’s actions are pushing the region “to the brink of disaster.” He reaffirmed Qatar’s commitment to brokering a ceasefire between Israel and Hamas.
