Inter’s Chairman Admits PSG Were better in UCL Final Rout

Munich, GermanyInter Milan President Giuseppe Marotta has acknowledged the overwhelming dominance of Paris Saint-Germain during Saturday night’s UEFA Champions League final, following the Italian side’s heavy 5–0 defeat at the hands of the French champions.

Speaking to Sky Sport Italia after the match, Marotta described the night as a humbling one, conceding that PSG outperformed Inter in every department. “It was a negative evening where the opponent outclassed us in every area, so we tip our hats to them,” he stated.

The historic result handed PSG their first-ever Champions League title and marked the largest winning margin ever recorded in a final. With the win, manager Luis Enrique joined Pep Guardiola as only the second coach to claim the treble with two different clubs.

Despite the disappointment, Marotta urged that the performance should not overshadow Inter’s overall journey to the final. “That must not change our view of the season as a whole, including the run to the Champions League Final,” he added. “It was a negative performance. We are sorry for this display and for the many fans who came here.”

Only a few months ago, Inter were chasing a historic treble. But after falling short in the league and domestic cup, the European final marked a painful end to a season that once promised silverware on multiple fronts.

Marotta, however, remained appreciative of the players and coaching staff, highlighting the demanding season they endured. “It was very difficult to reach this Final. We got here with absolute credit by overcoming opponents like Bayern Munich and Barcelona. We looked fragile this evening, but I want to thank our players and coach. Playing 59 games across all competitions proves this squad and club belong on this stage.”

Addressing speculation about head coach Simone Inzaghi’s future amid reported interest from Saudi side Al-Hilal, Marotta was firm in his support. “Absolutely no change of evaluation. We already said we would meet with Inzaghi next week. He still has a year left on his contract and has shown over the past four years that he deserves to be here. Many of our successes in that time are thanks to him.”

While the night belonged to PSG, Inter’s leadership remains focused on regrouping and rebuilding with confidence in their current direction.
