Intense Clashes Erupt in Northern Gaza as Israel Defends Against Hamas

Despite ongoing fighting in Gaza, US aid continues to arrive by sea, with American officials advocating for a targeted approach against Hamas rather than a broad assault on Rafah.

Israeli forces and Hamas militants are engaged in fierce battles in the Jabalia refugee camp in northern Gaza, where tanks and bulldozers are demolishing homes and shops.

Residents report extensive destruction and displacement, according to Reuters.

In southern Gaza, militants are attacking Israeli tanks near Rafah, prompting hundreds of thousands to flee.

The UN has warned of an impending humanitarian crisis, stressing the importance of land access to deliver aid effectively.

The White House announced that U.S. National Security Adviser Jake Sullivan will visit Israel on Sunday to advocate for a targeted offensive against Hamas militants, rather than a full-scale assault on Rafah.

A group of U.S. medical workers, previously trapped in a Gaza hospital where they were providing care, have safely exited the area, according to the White House.

The UNRWA, the primary UN aid agency for Palestinians, reported that over 630,000 people have fled Rafah since the offensive began on May 6.
