INGOs’ Support Invaluable to National Growth – Bagudu

The Minister of Budget and Economic Planning, Senator Atiku Bagudu, has praised International Non-Governmental Organizations (INGOs) for their essential role in supporting vulnerable populations and complementing government efforts.

Speaking at a one-day interactive forum with INGOs and other stakeholders in Abuja, Senator Bagudu highlighted the significant impact these organizations have on the lives of many Nigerians, contributing to stronger and more resilient communities. The forum underscored the Ministry’s mandate to coordinate the activities of donor agencies and NGOs across Nigeria’s 36 states and the FCT, addressing gaps that the government alone cannot fill.

“I extend my sincere appreciation to these INGOs for their tireless efforts and contributions towards our national development aspirations. I urge you to adhere to the established rules of engagement and strive for even greater levels of collaboration and innovation to amplify your impact,” said Bagudu, represented by his Senior Special Adviser, Mr. Bolaji Onolaja.

The Minister emphasized that the collaboration with INGOs aligns with the 2021-2025 National Development Plan, Nigeria 2050 Agenda, the current administration’s Eight-Point Agenda, and the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). The platform provides an opportunity for dialogue, collaboration, and the sharing of best practices to strengthen partnerships.

Dr. Sampson Ebimero, Director of International Cooperation at the Federal Ministry of Budget and Economic Planning, presented the Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) for INGOs, aimed at enhancing their activities’ effectiveness. Additionally, Lynn Van Beek, Director of the Nigeria INGO Forum, noted that the forum seeks to foster strong partnerships and create a more effective humanitarian and development landscape in Nigeria, improving coordination and aligning efforts with national priorities.
