The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has unveiled the final voter register for Edo and Ondo States.
In a statement, INEC National Commissioner and Chairman of Information and Voter Education Committee, Sam Olumekun, announced that the register includes new voters from the recent Continuous Voter Registration (CVR) exercise as well as figures for successful transfer applicants from other states.
According to the statement, Edo State now has 2,629,025 registered voters, while Ondo State has 2,053,061. This updated register reflects a 3.0% increase over the 2023 General Election figure of 1,191,344.
The register’s detailed breakdown, categorized by Local Government Areas, gender, age, occupation, and disability status, has been uploaded to the INEC website and social media platforms for public access.
Additionally, INEC will soon announce the timetable for the collection of Permanent Voters’ Cards (PVCs) for all categories of voters, including new registrants, those who applied for transfers, replacements, and uncollected cards from previous registrations.
The Edo governorship election is scheduled for Saturday, September 21, 2024, while the Ondo governorship election will take place on November 16, 2024.
