INEC expresses condolences for Ogun REC’s passing.

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has expressed deep sorrow and regret at the passing of Mr. Olaniyi Ijalaye, the Resident Electoral Commissioner (REC) for Ogun State.

Mr. Ijalaye tragically passed away on Monday following his attendance at the regular quarterly meeting of the commission in Abuja.

In a statement issued by Mr. Sam Olumekun, the National Commissioner and Chairman of the Information and Voter Education Committee of INEC, the commission extended its heartfelt condolences to the bereaved family of the late Mr. Ijalaye. INEC offered prayers for his soul and requested divine grace for his peaceful eternal rest.

Mr. Olaniyi Ijalaye, who hailed from Owo in Ondo State, was a distinguished individual who had a strong educational background. He obtained his Bachelor’s degree in Law (LLB) from the University of Ife (now Obafemi Awolowo University) in 1982, and was subsequently called to the Nigerian Bar in 1983 after obtaining his BL.

Additionally, he furthered his education by obtaining a Master’s degree in Law (LLM) from the same university in 1995.
