Independence Day: Wike Calls for Unity and Hope Among FCT Residents

As Nigeria marks its 64th Independence Day, the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has urged residents of Abuja to uphold the values of unity, peace, and resilience as they navigate the challenges of modern-day Nigeria.

In his Independence Day message, Wike emphasized the importance of solidarity and collective responsibility, encouraging citizens to reflect on the legacy of the nation’s founding fathers. He noted that Nigeria is at a critical juncture, facing economic, security, and social challenges that require courage and determination to overcome.

The minister praised President Bola Tinubu for implementing bold initiatives aimed at fostering national growth and development, urging Abuja residents to support these efforts for the betterment of the nation.

“Abuja, as the heart of our country, represents a melting pot of diverse cultures and traditions, showcasing the unity of our people from all regions of Nigeria,” Wike said, highlighting the capital’s symbolic importance.

He called on residents to take personal and collective responsibility for their communities by supporting security measures, promoting peace, protecting the environment, and fostering solidarity.

In addition to celebrating the nation’s achievements, Wike expressed gratitude to the armed forces for their dedication to safeguarding the safety and security of Nigerians, particularly those in the FCT.

He reaffirmed the FCT Administration’s commitment to improving infrastructure, enhancing security, and raising the quality of life for all residents. Wike assured citizens that the government is working to create an inclusive society where everyone has opportunities to thrive.

“Let us celebrate our progress, honor our diversity, and work together toward a future filled with hope and promise,” the minister concluded.
