Lagos, Nigeria — Former Vice President and 2023 PDP presidential candidate Atiku Abubakar emphasized his focus on national progress over personal ambition at an African Democratic Congress (ADC) event in Lagos.
Speaking through Prof. Ola Olateju of Achievers University, Atiku highlighted his commitment to better governance, security, and prosperity rather than seeking the presidency at any cost.
Olateju described ADC as a movement for national renewal, not just a political party, saying, “It’s about delivering good government, not Atiku’s presidency.”
Addressing Nigeria’s economic challenges like subsidy removal and inflation, Atiku expressed hope that the coalition could lead change.
On the 2027 ADC presidential candidate, he said the party will hold fair contests, and all members will back the chosen nominee, prioritizing unity and national interest.
The event also saw former PDP and LP members like Dr. Abimbola Ogunkelu and Chief Muritala Ashorobi join ADC, received by party leaders including Rauf Aregbesola.
