Ilorin – A student of Adewole Senior Secondary School in Ilorin, Kwara State, has been apprehended with an axe, cutlass, and other dangerous weapons hidden inside his school bag.
The incident reportedly unfolded when the school’s vice principal caught a student committing an offense. As the student was being taken to the office, a group of students mockingly urged the school official to release him.
Their defiant behavior provoked the vice principal, who ordered that they be brought forward. However, most of them fled the scene, except for one student who was caught. Upon searching his bag, school authorities discovered an assortment of weapons instead of books. The student later claimed that the bag was handed to him by a fellow gang member.
The case has been handed over to the Nigeria Security and Civil Defense Corps (NSCDC) for further investigation.
Confirming the incident on Thursday, NSCDC spokesperson in the state, Ayoola Michael, stated that the investigation is ongoing, and more details will be provided once findings are concluded.
