The Chairman of the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC), Dr. Musa Aliyu, has reiterated the Commission’s commitment to collaborating with the Service Compact with All Nigerians (SERVICOM) to improve service delivery across the country.
During an advocacy visit to the ICPC Headquarters, led by SERVICOM’s National Coordinator and Chief Executive Officer, Mrs. Nnenna Akajemeli, Dr. Aliyu emphasized the importance of high-quality public services in fostering good governance. He explained that the ICPC’s role in combating corruption within public institutions aligns with SERVICOM’s mission to ensure that citizens receive efficient and accountable services.
“The quality of governance is reflected in the quality of services provided to citizens. Corruption and inefficiency not only delay or block access to essential services but also leave people feeling frustrated and underserved,” Dr. Aliyu stated. He added that by partnering with SERVICOM, the ICPC can address the challenges of poor service delivery and corruption within government offices, ensuring that public services are transparent and responsive.
Dr. Aliyu also highlighted the connection between corruption and inefficiencies in public service processes, noting that long wait times, inadequate facilities, and bureaucratic delays often create environments conducive to corrupt practices. He stressed that joint efforts between ICPC and SERVICOM would help tackle these issues, leading to better outcomes for Nigerians.
In her remarks, Mrs. Akajemeli praised the ICPC’s proactive approach to fighting corruption and emphasized the need to strengthen the SERVICOM Unit within the Commission. She urged ICPC to continue supporting SERVICOM by providing the necessary resources for developing and implementing the Service Charter, which outlines the standards and services citizens can expect.
She also called for ongoing engagement between the ICPC and SERVICOM teams, emphasizing that such collaboration is key to achieving more effective and accountable public service delivery across the country.
