In a recent interview, Nigerian singer Asake shared that he had to beg Olamide, the CEO of YBNL Nation, for two years before the rapper agreed to sign him to the record label.
During the interview, “Lonely at the top” crooner revealed that the YBNL boss, Olamide, extended an invitation to him to visit his house one day, where he proposed that Asake join his record label.
While the offer was incredibly exciting, Asake did not initially accept, as he was worried about the details of the contract. However, Olamide advised him to get a lawyer and carefully review the terms of the deal before signing. Despite this warning, Asake was unable to contain his excitement and signed the contract without fully understanding the ramifications.
Asake, in an interview with Hip TV, shared the story of how he was signed by Olamide. He revealed that he had been trying to get Olamide’s attention since 2020, and one day, he finally had the opportunity to meet with him. Olamide asked him how he was doing and then surprised him by asking if he wanted to join YBNL. This offer completely took Asake by surprise, as he had never imagined that this opportunity would be presented to him. It was a dream come true for him.
Asake officially joined YBNL Nation in February 2022, after months of trying to get the label’s attention. He released his debut EP, “Ololade,” in the same month, featuring the hit single “Omo Ope” featuring Olamide. “Omo Ope” was a massive success, propelling Asake into the spotlight. The song’s success was followed by the release of the single “Sungba,” which further solidified Asake’s place in the music industry.
