Historic peace deal ends century-long feud in Ebonyi – a hopeful step forward

Relative peace has returned to the troubled communities of Abomege and Ishinkwo in Onicha Local Government Area of Ebonyi State.

Governor Francis Ogbonna Nwifuru approved the setting up of a Peace Committee to investigate the causes of the crisis between these communities.

The committee successfully held joint meetings with the communities’ leaders and stakeholders and facilitated a Ceasefire Agreement and Peace Accord signed by both communities’ leaders and stakeholders.

This marks a significant step towards resolving a crisis that has lasted for over 111 years, claiming many lives and properties.
