Lagos, Nigeria — Guinness World Record holder, Hilda Baci, has announced her latest culinary challenge: preparing what could become the world’s largest pot of jollof rice using 250 bags of rice.
Baci, who gained global fame in 2023 after setting the record for the longest cooking marathon, disclosed the details in a video shared on Instagram on Monday. The revelation has since sparked excitement and curiosity among food enthusiasts and fans worldwide.
According to her, the specially designed giant pot for the feat has a capacity of 22,619 litres. She explained that her goal is to fill at least 75 to 80 percent of the pot, which translates to approximately 5,278 kilogrammes of raw basmati rice.
“My goal is to fill this pot up by at least 75 to 80 per cent. That means I will need about 5,278 kilogrammes of raw basmati rice to achieve the yield,” Baci stated.
She noted that while the calculation amounts to 264 bags of rice, she had opted for 250 bags as a strategic adjustment. On condiments, Baci revealed that the preparation would require around 1,583 kilogrammes of tomato paste, complemented with pepper chicken paste and jollof paste.
Emphasising her aim to balance scale with flavour, the chef assured Nigerians and the global audience that the project would produce the “most delicious, largest pot of Nigerian jollof rice ever cooked.”
