HEADLINE: Defence Minister Calls for Cross-Border Collaboration to Combat Weapon Smuggling

Muhammed Badaru, the Minister of Defence, has urged African nations to foster greater cooperation to stem the illicit flow of weapons across borders and to combat terrorism effectively.

In a statement released by Henshaw Ogubike, the Director of Information and Public Relations of the Ministry, the minister made these remarks following a two-day High-Level Africa Counterterrorism Summit held in Abuja.

Badaru underscored the significance of collaboration among sub-regional bodies and international partners in formulating robust strategies to counter terrorism and related crimes across the continent.

During his address to reporters, Minister Badaru highlighted the imperative for unified efforts by sub-regional bodies, alongside the international community, in combating terrorism.

He stressed the urgency of securing Africa against insecurity, expressing confidence in the attainability of this objective in the near future.

Furthermore, the Minister called for the enhancement of intelligence sharing and information gathering to identify sources of terrorist funding and channels of arms procurement.
