Popular social media influencer, Daniel Regha has sounded a note of warning to Nigerians as the Harmattan season sets in.
In an X post on Wednesday, Regha warned against indiscriminate burning of materials to prevent fire outbreaks.
He also cautioned against burning of tyres around residential areas to forestall the release of toxic fumes into the atmosphere.
Regha said, “Please monitor whatever you are burning this period; Don’t just set something on fire and leave.
“We are literally in the Harmattan season, which means that fire can spread quickly if unchecked.
“Also, stop burning tyres around residential areas, the fumes are intoxicating.”
Earlier in the month, the Climate Change and Environment Desk at the Interfaith Mediation Centre (IMC) Kaduna, in collaboration with African Climate Reporters (ACR), strongly advised citizens against the harmful practice of bush burning, especially during Harmattan season.
The group maintained that bush burning could cause uncontrollable fires, leading to loss of lives and property.
