Manchester, UK— Former Bayern Munich midfielder Owen Hargreaves has advised Manchester United against selling Kobbie Mainoo, Marcus Rashford, and Alejandro Garnacho, emphasizing their importance to the team’s future.
Hargreaves shared his views during an interview with Premier League Productions, expressing concerns over United’s rumored approach to handling their young talents.
“Nobody’s leaving… Rashford’s not leaving, Mainoo’s not leaving, Garnacho… nobody is leaving,” Hargreaves insisted.
He urged the club to retain and build around these players, describing them as some of United’s most talented assets. “They’re your best players. We’re going to help integrate these and build around them. You’re not going to get better than them,” he added.
Criticizing the idea of loaning them out or subsidizing their wages elsewhere, Hargreaves said, “To let these guys go on loan and pay half their wages is madness. Impossible, I wouldn’t let it happen.”
He acknowledged that players like Marcus Rashford may feel the need to move on to reestablish their form, but he urged patience and commitment from both the club and the players.
“Look at where Harry Maguire was a couple of years ago and now he’s got a new contract. Football changes real quick, and you want to keep your most talented players here,” Hargreaves noted.
He concluded by affirming his belief in the trio’s potential, saying, “I think Garnacho, Mainoo, and Marcus certainly are a part of that group, and they could have a bright future if they just sort it out.”
The statement underscores the importance of nurturing talent and creating a strong foundation for future success at Manchester United.
