Haaland Included in Premier League Player of the Season Nominees

Erling Haaland, the dynamic striker for Manchester City, secures a coveted spot on the Premier League Player of the Season shortlist, marking his second consecutive year in contention for the prestigious award.

During the previous season, Haaland etched his name in history by clinching both the Player of the Season and Young Player Award accolades, propelled by an astonishing tally of 36 goals in 35 league appearances.

This season, amidst Manchester City’s relentless pursuit of a historic fourth consecutive title, Haaland has showcased his prowess yet again, netting 25 goals.

Joining Haaland in the esteemed shortlist is his teammate, Phil Foden, whose stellar performance throughout the season has earned him widespread recognition. Foden’s remarkable contribution saw him clinch the Football Writers’ Association Footballer of the Year title, bolstered by 16 league goals and eight assists.

The roster of nominees further includes standout performers from various clubs: Martin Odegaard and Declan Rice from Arsenal, Cole Palmer from Chelsea, Alexander Isak from Newcastle, Ollie Watkins from Aston Villa, and Virgil van Dijk from Liverpool.

Notably, Cristiano Ronaldo remains the sole player to have clinched the award in consecutive seasons, achieving this feat during the 2006-07 and 2007-08 campaigns. Manchester City boasts a formidable legacy in recent years, with Haaland’s inclusion marking the club’s continued dominance, following the successes of Kevin de Bruyne and Ruben Dias in previous seasons.
